The major objectives of the present project are:
– To design and to synthesize new CPPs, namely buforinII/IIb chemically modified derivatives, that can be used as a „versatile and generalized vehicle“ for commercially chemical drugs delivery.
– To determine the antimicrobial activity of these CPPs in gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
– To study the CPP’s cellular uptake in cancer cell line models and pharmacological effects in relevant biological systems.
– To non-covalently conjugate different chemical drugs to the CPP-vector to obtain CPP-drug conjugates and to study their cellular uptake, stability, toxicity, and pharmacological effects in relevant biological systems.
– To study the effect of CPP-drug conjugates in cellular models for human disease, with a focus on breast and prostate cancer.
